1986 is a mixed wall sculpture made from mdf, latex, acrylic, lacquer and polycrylic. While the shape and form are modern, the distressed and expressionist paint undercut the coldness of the hard edges. The result is a piece that feels both modern and old, new and used and modern and retro. Vivid blues, pinks and purples glow from this piece. I named it 1986 as a nod to the time I was growing up and the overall feel of the piece, which feels 80's inspired.
