26" x 27"H x 1.5" D.  Italian Plaster on MDF, acrylic and walnut wood on MDF.  Falconer is a modern mixed media wall sculpture. Made from Italian plaster, paint, black walnut, and MDF. This is the first piece I made as I begin to experiment with additional materials in my wall sculptures, outside of paint, resin, wood and MDF. I developed this method using imported Italian limestone plaster to give the surface a stone like texture and dimension. This provides an elegant juxtaposition and dialogue between the stone and the wood surfaces. The limited monochrome color palette emphasizes the form and composition over color. I designed this piece to be somewhat reminiscent of past influences (mid century modernism and Art Deco) while also nodding to the future.
